I've been having such bad luck trying to get the album and the last concert Blu-ray. First CDJapan updated the shipping trying to charge me for it more than the CD itself so I canceled it. I ordered it on YesAsia to get the free shipping and now they tell me that they've postponed the shipping until May 2 because they're having trouble getting the Anarchy album :((

Thanks to eyeless once again. I love the album. Here are my first thoughts on it: [Warning! Long post. I'll put it in spoiler if it bothers people.

1. Umete Agetai(Interlude)
This shouldn’t be an interlude but a prologue but whatever. This reminds me more to the bits they did on Chunin rather than the ones from Kinpachi. Not really a song, more like an audiobook, it made me laugh even though I don’t understand a thing they’re saying, the sound effects they did were priceless.

2. Zettee Anarchy
The first time I listened to Zettee Anarchy I wasn’t too impressed but now I’m hooked and it sounds even better in the recording (having a nice system and headphones also help get a better experience than just watching the PV on Youtube). This song reminds me of my teenage years playing Tony Hawk videogames, it could be on the soundtrack. I’ve got to revisit the games and play this along, I might even make a video of it.

3. Haruyasumi Moratorium Chugakusei
The beginning is quite epic, like a continuation of Pompero Pekoluna Papiyotta. I really love this song, from the first listen, it has something quite anthemic, which is going to be great for concerts (yes I always take that under consideration). The girls sound amazing, specially aiai and Mayama. The instrumental is also amazing, it’s going to be hard to beat.

4. Popcorn Tone
Another rock inspired song (YES!) but this time is in the more calmed spirit SCANDAL has going on right now. If there’s something Ebichu does amazingly is making anthems, I’m sure if I read my Kinpachi review again I’ll find that II said the same thing. They have a lot of songs with that “bigger than life” vibe going on, I can already see the waving lights on their concerts.

5. Nikibi
I feel like all my jokes about the album are going to be about Nikibi. I was scared when they choose to release the PV for this one. However, the previous 3 songs have already given me what I wanted from an Ebichu album so I’m open to changing style. This song is probably closer to Chupakabra but I like that one a lot more. With that being said it’s a nice song and I’m sure it’s going to end up stuck on my head as well.

6. EbiChu Shusseki Bangou no Uta Sono 2
About time, I’ve been waiting for this since Kaho and Riko joined, The first one helped me learn the names and personalities of each one of the member and this one may be even better. This time not only we get a new presentation of the members but it also tells us a story of how the girls have grown up. I mean, Hinata was probably 12 when they did the first one, 5 years later they’ve grown older and cooler. I’m forever referring to Mirei as Hoshina “Born to be idol” Mirei from now on.

7. Mabui Raga Typhoon(Interlude)
Musical interlude, this is much better than their “just talking” interludes. If this was a full song it would probably be really annoying but being under 2 minutes it’s alright.

8. Natsu daze Johnny
First oldie from the album. Their singles are brilliant so I’m not even going to complain. I know some people didn’t like Natsu Daze Johnny that much but it’s one of my favorites. It has the perfect mix of styles, it’s catchy and if you take into consideration the PV it adds JoJo poses so I don’t need anything else. Speaking of which, I might as well try editing the OP of Diamond is Unbreakable and putting this song in.

9. MISSION SURVIVOR
I feel like this is the “Kinpachi Dance Music” of the album, we already know it comes with a towel dance so I’m sure it’s going to be their go to song for the summer. The chorus is really good, it’s cleaner than the rest of the song, which can get a little messy. Some of the lines reminded me of PASSPO (the party people part, they have a song where the say the same thing). Perhaps too much stuff going on at the same time.

10. Nachu Melo Rendezvous
They’ve had this song for a while so it’s nice to hear it here. For some reason after listening to it I always tend to get Dempagumi’s Otsukare Summer! Stuck in my head. Dempagumi’s was annoyingly catchy even if you hated the song like I did. The highlight of Nachu Melo Rendezvous are the long notes Hinata and Ayaka deliver.

11. Ana Aki in the Sekkei(Interlude)
Who comes up with this stuff? It’s fun but I can’t imagine the meeting when management decides this is what is going in the album. This proves they’re trolls and I fully endorse it.

12. POMPARA PEKOLUNA PAPIYOTTA
What can I say about this song? I’m almost sure it’s my favorite song, ever. It’s what you get from a brilliant composer like Yoko Kanno making a song for Ebichu’s persona 5572320, pure perfection. Add the visuals of the PV, and the concept they had going on with their only performance of it on tv and you get the absolute mix of idol and good music.

13. Onegai Jesus
I can make a lot of Spanish jokes about the title “Por Favor Jesús” sounds like a low budget comedy series. However, it actually is the ballad of the album. It goes back and forth between a more idolish ballad and a rock ballad, which helps keep it interesting. The kind of song that makes me wish for a performance with a live band. Not bad, not bad at all. I can definitely see this one as a Winter song, which might mean they really meant Jesus as in Christ not as in my co-worker Jesús.

14. Zenryoku ☆ Runner
Nice piano and once again I’m surprised at how good the girls sounded on the whole album. One of the things I love about Ebichu is that they always maintain an standard, it feels like all their songs go from good to brilliant. Even with a song like this one, which might be considered more “normal” it’s still great, delivering quality music throughout the album.

15. Super Hero
Another song we already know. It fits at this point, I actually wouldn’t have minded it if it closed the album. Super Hero did a lot of things right, it showed that the girls could have an A side which is more serious than their usual singles and make it work. It probably marks the moment Ebichu moved to the next stage, at least conceptually. They’ve been using their individual color coding more and more, wearing street clothes.. In general doing stuff regarding what we already know: Ebichu is strong because each of the girls is strong on their own, yet they become even greater together.

16. Sanmaime no Tough Gaki
I wasn’t expecting this kind of song at the end of the album. It starts like it’s going to be the PLAYBACK of the album but then it takes even further. It’s quite bold to do this kind of stuff, but I love that they try it. As I said before, doing this style every once in awhile could gain them a lot of fans. As much as I love their punk rock side I want them to try this style out for a single sometime, just to see how the public reacts.

Final thoughts:
After the songs they chose to promote I was a bit worried about that being the best the album had to offer. I was so wrong. I can’t say if it has beaten Kinpachi or not after the first listen, but it’s definitely as strong. The first 3 songs are probably my favorites from the new ones. On the second part of the album the singles are a bit more interesting than the new songs, but that doesn’t mean the new songs aren’t great, it just shows exactly the kind of high quality releases Ebichu has been having.
